Organise your year with creativity and meaning through the 2027 Collins The Light Week-to-View Diary, featuring an award-winning design by illustrator and animator Lucy Jin.
Lucy was awarded first place in the 2025 Collins Debden Graduate Award, developed in collaboration with Communication Design at The Glasgow School of Art. Her winning artwork brings thoughtful visual storytelling to the Collins 2027 diary collection.
The Story Behind The Light
Inspired by nature, emotional openness and human connection, The Light explores the freedom to express love, vulnerability and genuine emotion.
Influenced by the work of Scottish poet Michael Pedersen, the collection challenges traditional expectations that vulnerability should be hidden or viewed as weakness. Instead, it celebrates empathy, openness and the courage to communicate with warmth and honesty.
Lucy’s multicultural background also shapes her creative approach. Her illustrations combine gentle emotions, inner reflection and nature-inspired imagery, with sustainability expressed through the mood and meaning of the artwork.
The result is an illustrated diary that feels personal, uplifting and reflective while remaining practical for everyday planning.
